For What Is Precious Is Not Forever is the third movement of Jacobo’s Armageddon: Concerto for Trumpet. Program notes for the complete work are as follows:

I. Our Own Hand
II. Wrath of Nature
III. For What Is Precious Is Not Forever
IV. Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet

The End of Times has always been and always will be a mystery - a secret so to speak.
However, it is no secret that the initiator of our demise is the Trumpet. With its haunting timbre calls for our inevitable destruction. Destruction by war in the first movement. Destruction by Mother Nature herself in the second.
The unfortunate release of hell on Earth when the final trumpet, the seventh trumpet, calls the ominous siren of chaos. Nevertheless, we must enjoy our time now, nothing that is precious as life lasts forever, as musically depicted in the third movement. The seconds of our lives are ticking away.
The constant battles, both internal and external will bring the apocalypse.

You’ve been warned.

Recorded on April 26th, 2022 by John Holt (Flugelhorn), the University of North Texas Wind Ensemble, and Dr. Daniel Cook.
